You can technically, my brother cooks on an old stove connected to a propane tank on his outdoor patio. However, it is not that safe and may not be legal depending on where you live. However, if you do do it, make sure to completely shut off gas, even unhook tank anytime you are not using stove.

just find a stove rated for propane. like a camper or mobile home stove.
some stoves can be converted, it is necessary to change the orifice at each burner.

Unless your range is equipped with the Propane converter to burn the propane instead of natural gas, you can NOT use it that way.
Peace and God bless from Texas

one question everyone forgot to ask you,is the stove an LP stove or natural gas? If it is natural gas you will have to change the orifice that controls gas flow.If it is an LP stove then the gas tank will work just in either case be careful that the pilot light does not get blown out a build up of gas under a pot can be dangerous if you stick a match in it
